WHY IS THE WAITING SO HARD?Can you think of a time when you had to wait for something? Or something you are currently waiting for? Maybe you're waiting for God to answer a prayer you have been praying for years. Perhaps you're waiting for God to open new doors or give you wisdom and guidance on making an important decision. Maybe you've been praying for a long time for a loved one to get saved or healing for yourself or a family member. Or perhaps you're even in your car listening to the podcast version of this devotional, waiting for traffic to pass. But no matter what you've waited for in the past or what you're currently waiting for God to do, we've all been there. And amid the waiting, we ask ourselves: ''Why is this taking so long? Why can't God give me what I want RIGHT NOW? Why is God making me wait?'' So what makes the waiting season so hard? Well, there can be several reasons for that. One is simply that, as humans, we can quickly lose our patience. And I mean, think about it. How often have we lost patience SO QUICK? We often want the easiest way out, the most convenient, the quickest way to do things. And when we want something, we WANT IT NOW, not having to wait for a second. We see this in our everyday lives when we wait in the drive-thru line for our food at a fast food restaurant or when we order an item on Amazon and get the fast, 2-day shipping. Another thing that makes the waiting season so hard is the hardships we may face through it. But I believe that behind even the hardest of seasons, God has a purpose behind it. And waiting seasons can be some of the most challenging ones because, amid the waiting, God often challenges us, convicts us, and refines us- which can be not very pleasant in the moment.
